BISHKEK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday extended the lockdown in place in some of its cities and regions until May 10 in accordance with the COVID-19 situation, the president's press service reported.

Speaking at a meeting of Security Council of Kyrgyzstan, President Sooronbai Jeenbekov noted that given the epidemiological situation, the state of emergency will be extended in the cities of Bishkek, Osh and Jalal-Abad and the At-Bashi district of the Naryn region, it said.

This decision was made after assessing the reports on the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the central Asian country. In areas such as the Nookat and Kara-Suu districts in the Osh region and the Suzak district in the Jalal-Abad region, as well as in the Naryn city, the state of emergency will be lifted, the report said.

Kyrgyzstan imposed a state of emergency on some of its cities and regions on between March 25 and April 15, and later extended it until April 30.

So far, the country has reported a total of 708 confirmed cases, with 416 recoveries and 8 deaths. Enditem
