ANTANANARIVO, April 30 (Xinhua) -- President of the Comoros Azali Assoumani confirmed Thursday afternoon the first COVID-19 case during his address to the nation.
According to Mr. Assoumani, a 50-year-old Comorian was confirmed Thursday by the health department as the first case of COVID-19 in his country.
"The patient was admitted to the local hospital on April 23 for cough, sore throat, fever and difficulty breathing," said Assoumani.
"The patient's state of health is gradually improving and the identification of people who have been in contact with him is still in progress," said Assoumani.
In addition, Mr. Assoumani said that the government have already ordered the closure of all borders and schools, among others, as the country's precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Enditem
