1 COVID-19 patient in Laos retests positive after recovery

VIENTIANE, May 2 (Xinhua) -- One COVID-19 patient in Laos tested positive again after making full recovery, Lao Deputy Minister of Health Phouthone Meaugpak told a press conference on Saturday.

The patient is a 20-year-old student who returned from Britain, and was confirmed as the country's 14th case of COVID-19 which was announced on April 7 and discharged from Mittaphab Hospital on April 16.

The patient retested positive after 14 days of self-quarantine at home, the deputy minister said.

As of Saturday, Laos tested 2,165 suspected cases with 19 cases tested positive, and nine of them have recovered.

The nine recovered included six cases in Lao capital Vientiane and three cases in Luang Prabang province.

Another 10 infected cases are treated in designated hospital -- Mittaphab Hospital (Hospital 150) in Lao capital Vientiane.
