ATHENS, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Greece reported on Saturday three new fatalities linked to COVID-19, bringing its total toll to 143, according to health authorities.
Eight new cases of infection were registered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 2,620 since Feb. 26, Greek Health Ministry spokesman Sotirios Tsiodras said at a regular press briefing.
Currently 37 people were being treated in intensive care units, while 77 have been discharged from ICUs.
The authorities have so far conducted 78,207 diagnostic tests. Tsiodras announced that mobile sampling and testing units will be launched from Monday under the guidance of the National Public Health Organization.
Since March 23, Greece has been in a full lockdown, which is scheduled to end on May 4.
During Saturday's press briefing, Nikos Hardalias, deputy minister for Civil Protection and Crisis Management at the Ministry of Citizen Protection, highlighted that starting on Monday mask-wearing will be mandatory in public transport and crowded public spaces such as hospitals, medical centers, shops, and hair salons, among others.
