Kyrgyzstan reports 43 new COVID-19 cases,business resumes

BISHKEK, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan confirmed 43 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, raising its total number of infections to 1,313, with 14 deaths.

Among the newly infected, four are medical workers, bringing the total number of medical workers diagnosed with COVID-19 to 270, 233 of whom have recovered, Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev told a daily briefing.

The total number of recovered cases has increased to 929, with 19 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, he added.

To date, a total of 1,902 people who have had contact with infected patients are under medical observation in the country.

Kyrgyzstan imposed a lockdown on March 25, but gradually lifted the measure since May 1. Shopping malls, outlets, spa centers, hotels and all servicing spheres except cafes and entertainment centers are opening from Thursday.

At the same time, the government strongly recommends the use of face mask. Customers in all stores must maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters.
