STOCKHOLM, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) announced on Friday that it planned to resume more flights in June in Europe.

In a statement, SAS said it would resume 16 new routes from Copenhagen to countries such as Germany, Belgium, Iceland, Lithuania, Spain, France, Greece and Croatia after mid-June.

SAS also announced it would resume flights from the Swedish capital Stockholm to a number of Mediterranean destinations, such as Palma in Spain, Nice in France, and Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece at the end of June.

In Sweden, the airline would also resume several domestic flights from June 18, including to the Baltic island of Gotland, a popular summer destination in Sweden.

The Swedish government said Thursday that Swedes can travel freely around the country starting June 13, provided they are symptom-free.

SAS was founded in 1946 by a merger of the national carriers of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Enditem
