KATHMANDU, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The Nepali government on Saturday reported two new deaths from COVID-19 as the toll from the pandemic climbed to 13 in the Himalayan country.
It is for the first time that Nepal reported two deaths in a single day as the country witnessed deaths from the pandemic four days in a row, according to Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population.
"A 58-year-old man from Nepal's remote mid-western Dolpa district who died at local quarantine centre on June 3, has been confirmed to be infected with novel coronavirus," Bikas Devkota, spokesperson at Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population said at a regular press meet on Saturday.
Likewise, a 55-year-old woman from far-western part of Nepal also died from COVID-19 on Friday, according to the ministry. The woman, who was a kidney patient, died at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, Nepal reported 323 new COVID-19 cases as total cases climbed to 3,235, according to the Health Ministry. Nepal saw a rapid rise in cases since May as there were just 57 cases till April end. Enditem
