Oman reports 1,072 new COVID-19 cases, 46,178 in total

MUSCAT, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Oman reported 1,072 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number in the country to 46,178.

Meanwhile, 10 new fatalities from the virus were reported, bringing the death toll to 213, while 949 more patients recovered, raising the total recovered cases to 27,917, the health ministry said in a statement.

In a separate statement on Sunday, the ministry announced that it was preparing for a survey of antibodies to help determine the extent of the COVID-19 infection across the country.

The survey will take about 10 weeks, with random blood samples taken from 20,000 people in different age groups, Soleen Al-Khalili, a doctor at the directorate general for disease surveillance and control at the ministry, told Xinhua. Enditem
