BANGKOK, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- A speed boat caught fire in southern Thailand's coastal province Phangnga, injuring five on Sunday morning, reports said.
The incident took place at about 8 a.m. local time when the skipper found the engine failed and asked crewmen to check it before tourists boarding. The engine suddenly exploded and the whole boat was in blaze later. Four crewmen and the skipper were wounded and hospitalised, local media said.
The boat was dragged away from other boats to prevent fire spreading. The explosion is under investigation.
Beach resorts and islands in southern Thailand are major tourist attractions, particularly during the high season from November to March. Enditem
