MADRID, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Although there are no La Liga games this week, Real Madrid has suffered a couple of injury setbacks with the confirmation that midfielders Toni Kroos and Fede Valverde have suffered problems that could sideline them for their club's next La Liga game and the first leg of their Champions League clash with Liverpool.
Kroos suffered a groin injury in training with the German national team on Monday and will return to Madrid for treatment, while Valverde will be out for around two weeks after injuring his right leg in last Saturday's 3-1 win away to Celta Vigo.
Both players are likely to miss the La Liga game at home to struggling Eibar on April 3rd and are doubts for the Liverpool match three days later.
Dani Carvajal and Eden Hazard will also miss those two games, with Hazard out for both legs of the Champions League as his injury nightmares continue. The Belgian winger is suffering an injury to a muscle in his groin that affects his movement, which is thought to be related in some way to his long-running ankle problems.
The good news for Madrid is that right-back Alvaro Odriozola has returned to training after a long-running muscle problem, while the club found out on Tuesday that they will be able to play the first leg of the Champions League against Liverpool in their Valdebebas training ground.
A ban on flights to Spain from Britain had meant that the game had looked as if it would have to be played in a third country, but the decision taken by the Spanish government to allow flights from Britain to the Spanish mainland from March 30th means that Liverpool can now fly to Madrid. Enditem
