Live COVID-19 updates: Brazil sets daily record of 3,650 new deaths

BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil on Friday again broke its record of single-day COVID-19 deaths, after 3,650 people died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said.

It was the second time Brazil exceeded 3,000 COVID-19 deaths in one day, after registering 3,251 deaths on Tuesday.

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina registered 12,936 new COVID-19 infections on Friday, bringing the national tally to 2,291,051 cases.

According to a Health Ministry report, another 143 deaths were registered in the same period, taking the death toll to 55,235.

BOGOTA -- Colombia registered 7,395 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking its nationwide tally to 2,367,337, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Friday.

The country also reported 126 more deaths, raising the national death toll to 62,645, said the ministry.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia reported 361 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the second highest daily number since reporting its first case in March 2020, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Saturday.

"A total of 17,000 COVID-19 tests were conducted at 16 laboratories across the country yesterday, and 361 of them were positive," Enebish Temuulen, deputy director of the NCCD, said at a press conference.

BEIJING -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) delivered a batch of COVID-19 vaccine aid to the Sudanese military on Saturday at the latter's request, said China's Ministry of National Defense.

This came a day after the PLA had provided COVID-19 vaccine aid to the Sierra Leone military.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 11,908,910 on Saturday as 62,258 new cases were reported from across the country, according to the latest figures released by the federal health ministry.

Besides, 291 deaths since Friday morning took the death toll to 161,240. Both the number of new cases and deaths recorded in past 24 hours is the highest this year so far. Enditem
