PARIS -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday called on Israelis and Palestinians to stop hostilities and agree on a ceasefire after days of clashes which have left more than 100 victims.

"The spiral of violence in the Middle East must stop," Macron wrote in a Twitter message. "I strongly call for a ceasefire and for dialogue. I call for calm and peace."

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Joe Biden said on Thursday that Senate Republicans will give him a revised infrastructure offer next week as the two sides seek compromise on the issue.

JERUSALEM -- Israel's military unleashed on Thursday night an "unprecedented" assault on the Gaza Strip, the military said.
