RIO DE JANEIRO, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil and Manchester City striker Jo continued his impressive start to the Brazilian Serie A season by firing Corinthians to a 1-0 win at Chapecoense on Thursday.
The 34-year-old capitalized on Gabriel's knock-down after a Gustavo Silva cross to turn around his marker and blast a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Joao Sovinski.
Jo has now scored four times in seven matches in the current league campaign.
After a poor start to the season, Corinthians have not lost since a 2-1 defeat to Bragantino on June 16 and they are now 10th in the 20-team standings, eight points behind leaders Palmeiras.
Chapecoense, who were promoted from Serie B in January, have lost their last three games to drop to 19th. Enditem
