JERUSALEM, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and his Slovenian counterpart Anze Logar signed on Monday a cyber security cooperation deal in Jerusalem.

The Israeli foreign ministry said in a statement that the bilateral agreement includes cooperation in the fields of cyber security and artificial intelligence.

Lapid and Logar also discussed enhancing "the warm relations between the two countries," the statement read.

The two ministers talked about a possible reconvening of the European Union (EU)-Israel Association Council, the highest annual bilateral forum that has not taken place since 2012 amid strained ties between the two sides.

Lapid is keen to revive the ties with the EU, saying Israel hopes the association council would convene soon.

Slovenia is currently holding the EU's rotating presidency.

For his part, Logar voiced Slovenia's expectation of "the cooperation and development with our Israeli partners" as well as deeper bilateral ties.

In July, Lapid met with 27 foreign ministers of the EU in Brussels. After the meeting, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, who hosted the meeting, said in a statement that the EU was ready for a "fresh start" with Israel. Enditem
