HAVANA -- Cuba registered 88 cases and two deaths from COVID-19 over the past day, bringing the total to 963,090 confirmed infections and 8,309 fatalities, the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reported on Sunday.

HOUSTON -- The World Petroleum Congress, the largest triennial gathering for the industry, kicked off Sunday in Houston, the largest city of south central U.S. state Texas, amid the shadow of the fast-spreading Omicron variant of COVID-19 and the uncertainty of global economic activity and energy consumption.

BRUSSELS -- Thousands of demonstrators marched in the streets of Brussels on Sunday to protest against the government's latest strict measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Twenty people were reported to have been arrested, according to the police, and four demonstrators and two police officers were injured in the clash.
