HONG KONG, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 jolted west of Macquarie Island at 08:58:08 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 60.6915 degrees south latitude and 154.1065 degrees east longitude. Enditem
