LAGOS, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and two others injured as two vehicles collided in southwest Nigeria's Ogun state on Friday, the road police confirmed.
Ahmed Umar, sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, said the accident occurred at about 7:02 a.m. local time on Friday, when two vehicles collided around an expressway interchange in the state.
Five people, including four male adults in the two vehicles and a lady waiting by the roadside, were involved in the accident, he said, adding three died in the accident and the two injured are receiving treatment at a local hospital.
The official blamed the accident on speeding and dangerous driving, and cautioned motorists against speed violation and other critical offenses, especially during peak traffic periods.
