BERLIN, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Runner up Borussia Dortmund cruised 6-1 past hapless "Wolves" after scoring five goals within 14 minutes of the first half at the 30th round on Saturday.

Wolfsburg caught a bright start on the road but missed the early opener as Lukas Nmecha's shot was defused by Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel with just 3 minutes played.

Dortmund quickly assumed control and created chances of the other end of the green but neither Julian Brandt nor Marius Wolf was able to break the deadlock as the match progressed.

Dortmund was able to turn its chances into a tangible reward soon as youngster Tom Rothe scored his debut goal with a header following a corner with 24 minutes gone.

The BVB made it 2-0 two minutes later after Erling Haaland's solo run and through ball allowed Axel Witsel to tap home right footed from nine meters.

Wolfsburg couldn't put up resistance as a Marco Reus free kick cross found Manuel Akanji, who tripled the lead from close range before Emre Can unleashed a left footed hammer to establish a 4-0 lead in the 35th minute.

Things went from bad to worse three minutes later as Haaland got his name on the scoreboards as well after the Norway international latched onto Reus's square pass.

Relentless Dortmund kept it going and wasn't done with the scoring as Haaland wrapped up his brace in the 54th minute after finishing off Brandt's good build up work.

The hosts reduced its offensive actions and allowed the "Wolves" to score their consolation goal in the 82nd minute when Ridle Baku benefitted on a moment of madness from defender Marin Pongracic to beat Kobel into the roof of the net.

"We played very dominantly and scored nice goals. I think we have ensured a great Easter Saturday for our supporters," said Dortmund coach Marco Rose.

"There is not much to say. It was a desolate performance in all respects. It was a weak performance from us," said Wolfsburg coach Florian Kohfeldt.

Elsewhere, Freiburg cemented its top five finish after a brace from Roland Sallai secured a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Bochum.

Hertha Berlin clinched vital points in the relegation battle as Suat Serdar's backheel goal edged Augsburg 1-0.

Mainz played out a goalless draw with relegation threatened Stuttgart and Cologne shocked rivals Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1. Enditem
