HANOI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The fifth plenary session of the 13th Communist Party of the Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) opened in Hanoi Wednesday, with a number of major issues to be discussed, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
Chaired by CPVCC General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the session was scheduled to discuss land policies and laws, agriculture and rural development, the development of a collective economy, and anti-corruption work, among other issues.
In his remarks at the opening meeting, regarding the reform of land-related policies and laws, Trong stressed the significance of harmony in terms of the interests of the state, the people and investors, which he said can help generate new resources and motivation for national development in the future.
Trong underlined the need to work out new guidelines to continue to improve land-related institutions and policies, with a focus on the settlement of urgent issues that are drawing public attention, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
As for the work concerning agriculture, farmers and rural areas, Trong called for efforts to learn from the success in the past as well as draw lessons, and asked the session's attendees to focus on how to realize a "high-level unity" among the CPV and the people to make the country's collective economy stronger and healthier.
The CPV session is scheduled to conclude on May 10. Enditem
