ULAN BATOR, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia on Tuesday launched a smartphone app to provide information about its rare and endangered species of wild fauna and flora, according to the country's Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

The smartphone app "Baigali," which means nature in Mongolian, contains information about 3,000 rare and endangered species of wild fauna and flora in Mongolia, the ministry said in a statement.

Smartphone users can download the app for free and add information and photos about rare and endangered animals and plants to the app, according to the ministry.

"Foreign and domestic tourists often use the Internet to get information not only about the services offered, but also about the nature before deciding on their travel destination. Therefore, we aim to make the app, which represents the biodiversity of Mongolia, an important marketing tool in the tourism industry and to introduce it to everyone," Bat-Ulzii Bat-Erdene, minister of environment and tourism, said at the launch ceremony of the app. Enditem
