Singapore reports 3,602 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 3,602 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total tally to 1,329,225.

Of the new cases, 370 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 3,232 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 349 were local transmissions and 21 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, 3,044 were local transmissions and 188 were imported cases.

A total of 227 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with nine of them held in intensive care units.

No new deaths were reported from COVID-19 in the Southeast Asian country on Wednesday, leaving the death toll unchanged at 1,394, according to the ministry. Enditem
