WELLINGTON, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The picturesque seaside streets of New Zealand's capital were filled with runners and walkers on Sunday, with this year's Wellington Marathon kicking off its biggest edition in history.
Earlier in the day, around 5,300 participants - the highest number in its history - set out to take on either the full marathon, half-marathon, 10km or kids' 1 mile distances, as the Wellington Marathon celebrated its 35th anniversary.
Home runner Sam McCutheon dominated the men's full marathon in 2:30:09 while his compatriot Lisa Brignull won the women's race in 3:07:39. Enditem
