VIENTIANE -- The Lao government has vowed to stabilize the macro economy and currency exchange rates, reaffirming that it would not allow the country to slide into debt default.

JALALABAD -- At least five people were killed and 10 others injured in the latest flash floods in the country's eastern province of Nangarhar late on Sunday, the provincial governor office said Monday.

The devastating floods also swept away 320 houses and hundreds of acres of farmlands in the provincial capital of Jalalabad and some districts of the province, the office said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Flooding-Damage)

SEOUL -- South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating fell 0.1 percentage points over the week to 33.3 percent last week, a weekly poll showed Monday.

SINGAPORE -- The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced on Monday that the MAS core inflation on a year-on-year basis rose to 4.4 percent in June from 3.6 percent in the previous month.
