MADRID, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Valencia coach Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed that Portuguese international winger Goncalo Guedes is on the verge of leaving the club.
Guedes was omitted from the Valencia squad for Saturday's "Trofeo Naranja" friendly match against Atalanta and when asked why afterwards, Gattuso confirmed that, "a big-money offer has come in for Guedes and we have to accept it."
The offer is thought to have come in from Wolverhampton Wanderers, a club with close ties to the agent, Jorge Mendes, who has also worked a lot with Valencia since the club was bought by Singapore based businessman Peter Lim.
Guedes has been a key player since joining Valencia from Paris Saint Germain in 2017 and has made 178 appearances for the club in which he has scored 36 goals.
Valencia will try and replace Guedes before the end of August, with Tottenham winger, Bryan Gil, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the club, a probable target. Enditem
