Singapore reports 2,713 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 2,713 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total tally to 1,916,993.

Of the new cases, 244 were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,469 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 233 were local transmissions and 11 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 2,354 local transmissions and 115 imported cases, respectively.

A total of 294 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with nine cases in intensive care units.

Two deaths were reported from COVID-19 on Monday, lifting the total death toll to 1,622, the ministry said. Enditem
