Myanmar reports 158 new COVID-19 cases

YANGON, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar confirmed 158 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's total tally to 630,603, according to its Ministry of Health on Sunday.

The ministry said in a statement that health authorities tested 8,553 people for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and the daily positivity rate was 1.85 percent.

The death toll from COVID-19 in the country reached 19,476 on Sunday as one new death was reported in the past 24 hours, the ministry said.

The total number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in the country reached 604,318, including 251 new recoveries on Sunday.
