BERLIN, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Germany's 2022 FIFA World Cup star Niclas Fullkrug could soon add another fairytale-like chapter to his unorthodox career.

Ahead of Germany's last group encounter against Costa Rica this Thursday, several media reports speak of the striker having triggered the interest of big clubs including Bayern Munich.

The 29-year-old's equalizer against Spain not only kept the 2014 world champions' advancing hopes alive but seems to have opened doors to a new dimension for the striker.

Werder Bremen sporting director Clemens Fritz admitted that the club might be thinking about the possibility of selling the striker.

Reports speak of Bayern Munich's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic having collected information about Fullkrug's plans by asking Bayern players in the German squad about their assessments.

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn answered questions regarding a possible first contact by saying "not yet". Kahn didn't deny Bayern's interest as the deal could well make sense for the 2020 treble winner.

The Bavarians last summer lost their goal supplier Robert Lewandowski. After eight years in Bayern's shirt, the Pole joined FC Barcelona.

Fullkrug is said to increase Bayern's options upfront aside from Cameroon international Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Reports speak of Bremen demanding around 20 million Euros for the forward, who owns a contract until 2025.

After several years in the second division, Fullkrug achieved his breakthrough on the national stage after traveling on a bumpy path before.

Educated in Bremen, the attacker played for Furth, Nuremberg and Hannover before returning to Bremen. 21 goals for Hannover in 75 games made him attract attention for the first time.

The late bloomer's ten league goals in 14 games this season also made him earn a surprising ticket in Germany's World Cup squad.

While rumors about a transfer seem to grow, the striker said that the priority should be concentrating on the German national team job and not discussing his future.

"We still have a job to do as we talk about wanting to get through the group into the knockout stage," he said.

Bayern's assumed interest might depend on the players' further development while the Bavarian side is also said to be interested in signing Tottenham's Three-Lions star Harry Kane.
