NEW YORK, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Trailing 64-53 at half-time, the Brooklyn Nets rallied to beat the New Orleans Pelicans 108-102 on the road on Friday.
Kevin Durant notched 33 points and rebounds, and Kyrie Irving added 19 points for the Nets, who had seen their 12-game NBA winning streak end at Chicago on Wednesday.
The Pelicans' two stars, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, were sidelined with injuries.
The Nets outscored the Pelicans 35-21 in the third quarter.
"It was a tale of two halves, even though we didn't get our shots to fire early on, or throughout the whole game, we just kept on pushing, it was a solid win for us," said Durant after the game.
The Charlotte Hornets scored 51 points in the first quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks, equalling the NBA record for the most points in the opening quarter of a game.
The record had been set by the Golden State Warriors against the Denver Nuggets in 2019.
Terry Rozier took a season-high 39 points to help the Hornets, the bottom of the standings in the East, beat the second-placed Bucks 138-109.
In Los Angeles, the Lakers shot down the Atlanta Hawks 130-114.
In Denver, the Nuggets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-108.
In Philadelphia, the Chicago Bulls upset the 76ers 126-112.
Elsewhere, the New York Knicks won 112-108 against the Toronto Raptors. Enditem
