TASHKENT, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Singapore has been enhanced with agreements worth nearly 5 billion U.S. dollars signed during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to Singapore on Tuesday, Mirziyoyev said, according his press service on Wednesday.
The Uzbek leader also called on Singaporean companies to take part in privatization programs, and the development of urban and transport infrastructure and other projects, said the press service.
Uzbekistan was greatly interested in "the advanced experience of Singaporean companies... innovations and technologies," Mirziyoyev was quoted as saying.
Uzbekistan has been attracting foreign direct investment since Mirziyoyev started economic reforms. The country's inflow of foreign investments now exceeds 30 percent of the country's gross domestic production (GDP). In 2022, the Central Asian country attracted 8 billion dollars in foreign direct investment, according to official data. Enditem
