Lakers edge Pacers, Antetokounmpo's 54 earns Bucks win

WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- LeBron James pulled within 63 points of becoming the NBA's all-time leading scorer as the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Indiana Pacers 112-111, while Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 54 points in the Milwaukee Bucks' 106-105 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.

LeBron James had 26 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, bringing his scoring tally to 38,325 points. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the scoring record with 38,387 points.

James gave Los Angeles its first lead on a 3-pointer with 2:35 left in the game, and Anthony Davis had decisive plays on both ends of the floor, making a jumper with 35.3 seconds left and a subsequent block on Tyrese Haliburton. Davis finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds.

The Pacers were in a leading position for most of the night and led 98-84 early in the fourth, but lost their fourth straight game after Buddy Hield's jumper rimmed out in the closing seconds.

Aaron Nesmith scored a career-high 24 points for Indiana. Haliburton added 26 points and 12 assists in his first game in three weeks. Myles Turner had 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Antetokounmpo scored 20 points in the fourth quarter, and the Bucks overcame a 21-point deficit midway through the third quarter to squeeze past the Clippers for their sixth consecutive victory.

The Greek star reached the 50-point mark for the third time in his last 11 games. He had a career-high 55 points on January 3 against Washington and scored 50 on Sunday against New Orleans.

Antetokounmpo made two free throws with 1:47 remaining to put the Bucks ahead 106-105, giving them their first lead since the second quarter.

Khris Middleton had 16 points and Holiday added 12 for the Bucks.

Norman Powell scored 26 points to lead the Clippers. Leonard had 17 points, 11 rebounds and five assists but missed a shot in the final second. Marcus Morris and Paul George had 16 points each.
