RIYADH, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- The second edition of the World Defense Show is scheduled to be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Feb. 4-8 next year, the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) has announced.

The show will feature the most advanced defense technologies, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.

"The exhibition will be a strategic means of supporting the endeavors of our dear country to achieve our localization goals," GAMI Governor Ahmad bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali was quoted by SPA as saying. He was referring to Saudi Arabia's plans to localize more than 50 percent of its military spending by 2030.

The show "will also provide an ideal environment to exchange knowledge on successful international and local experiences, while introducing the latest technologies and innovations used in the field," he was quoted as saying.

"One further key aim of the event will be to strengthen the Kingdom's international partnerships and create major new investment opportunities," he noted.

Approximately 7.92 billion U.S. dollars worth of contracts were signed during the first edition of the show, which was held in March last year, according to the report.

A total of 600 exhibitors and more than 100 military delegations from 85 countries participated the show last year, which was visited by more than 65,000 people. Enditem
