Pakistan forms task force on artificial intelligence for national development

ISLAMABAD, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives on Friday formed a 15-member national task force on artificial intelligence (AI) for the country's development.

The key objective of the task force is to develop a 10-year roadmap for accelerated adoption of AI in the business, development, governance, education, and healthcare sectors of Pakistan, according to the ministry.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the crucial role of AI in driving economic growth of Pakistan.

"Establishing a national task force on AI is part of the government's commitment to embrace AI and its potential to transform the country's economic landscape positively," the minister said.

He added that the task force aims to harness the power of AI for Pakistan's development while ensuring that the benefits are accessible to all segments of society.

Iqbal said that the integration of AI in the country's governance, healthcare, and education systems has the potential to revolutionize these sectors and bring about significant progress.

"From improving decision-making processes to personalizing medical treatments and enhancing learning experiences, AI can offer solutions that were previously unattainable," he added.

Iqbal underlined that by investing in artificial intelligence, Pakistan can unlock new opportunities for growth and improve the lives of its citizens. Enditem
