LUANDA, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Angola is seeking investment to increase the production of its 36 critical minerals, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas Diamantino Pedro Azevedo has said.
Angola possesses 36 of the 51 critical minerals in the world, including cobalt, copper, graphite, iron ore, lithium, manganese, neodymium, nickel, and zinc, but cannot exploit these minerals fully and is therefore seeking investment to increase exploration and discovery, Azevedo told a forum in Luanda, the Angolan capital, on Wednesday.
The government is committed to developing the value chains of these minerals in Angola to boost the local economy and benefit Angolan families, the minister said, expressing confidence that Angola can become a reliable source of critical minerals in the next five years.
He also highlighted Angola's significant deposits of critical minerals and its potential for large-scale exploitation. Enditem
