TEHRAN -- At least six people were killed and 25 others injured in a 26-car pile-up on an intercity road in southwestern Iran on Friday morning, the semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported.

The incident occurred at 10:50 a.m. local time (0720 GMT) when a semi-trailer truck carrying iron girders collided into 25 other vehicles because of the malfunction of its brake system, the report said. (Iran-Traffic Accident-Casualties)

TEHRAN -- At least 17 people have died after drinking counterfeit alcohol in the northern Iranian province of Alborz over the past 11 days, official news agency IRNA reported Friday.

Some 191 people suffering from poisoning symptoms were referred to the province's hospitals in this period, of whom four are still hospitalized, IRNA quoted Alborz Province's Chief Justice Hossein Fazeli Herikandi as saying on Friday. (Iran-Wine Fraud-Deaths)

ISTANBUL -- The number of foreign tourists to Türkiye surged to 4.5 million in May, amounting to a 16.2-percent year-on-year increase, the Culture and Tourism Ministry said Friday.

The Mediterranean resort of Antalya topped the list of most popular destinations by hosting 1.51 million visitors, slightly leading Istanbul with 1.5 million visitors, followed by the Aegean province of Mugla and the northwestern province of Edirne, hosting 380,899 and 349,123 foreigners respectively, according to the ministry figures. RABAT -- Morocco announced on Friday that the second Negev Forum summit, which includes Israel, the United States, Morocco, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, will not take place in July as expected.

Morocco is ready to host the Negev Forum summit this autumn and hopes that the political context will be favorable, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita told the press in Rabat, following his talks with Swiss Federal Councilor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Ignazio Cassis.
