CAIRO, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met on Thursday to discuss ties, cooperation, and regional issues, the Egyptian presidency office said in a statement.
This is the first visit of Mitsotakis to the country after his re-election in June.
Al-Sisi hailed the depth and stability of the distinguished strategic relations between Egypt and Greece, and the tangible expansion of cooperation in various fields.
Mitsotakis reiterated his country's interest in pushing the strong bilateral relations forward at different levels in light of the prominent Egyptian role in facing the current challenges and crises in the region of the Mediterranean Sea, the illegal migration in particular.
The talks focused on activating cooperation in the military, economy, culture, energy, and green economy fields.
They also agreed on continuing their collaboration in Libya to boost a political settlement. Enditem
