EINDHOVEN, Netherlands, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- An initiative aimed at boosting Europe's competitiveness in high-tech manufacturing kicked off in the Netherlands on Wednesday, called Manufacturing-X.
Some 50 Dutch and German officials, industrial experts and entrepreneurs met at the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven, a state-of-the-art industrial park home to top Dutch high-tech companies like ASML.
"The fact that we have decentralized data exchanged on a secure basis is the core of Manufacturing-X," Peter van Harten, ambassador for the Smart Industry Program set up by the Dutch government to promote digital manufacturing, explained to Xinhua.
Manufacturing-X was organized by the Smart Industry Program and the German Labs Network Industrie 4.0 (LNI 4.0), a non-profit industrial association.
"This is the start of a journey of many, many years to get the philosophy of Manufacturing-X out in the markets," van Harten said.
LNI 4.0 and the Dutch Smart Industry Program first agreed to collaborate on Manufacturing-X at the Hannover Messe 2023, a leading international trade fair in the manufacturing sector held in April.
"We decided to start in the Netherlands and to bring a group of people together from government, education, university, service providers, manufacturing companies, from both the Netherlands and Germany," van Harten added. Enditem
