6.4-magnitude quake jolts Japan's Okinawa: JMA

TOKYO, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 struck the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, said the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) on Monday.

According to the agency, the temblor occurred at 10:21 p.m. local time (1321 GMT) at a depth of 170 km, measuring 3 on Japan's seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.

The temblor's epicenter was located off Japan's northwestern Miyako Island at a latitude of 26.5 degrees north and a longitude of 125.2 degrees east.

No tsunami warning has been issued following the quake. Enditem
