WARSAW, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- After her loss to China's Wang Xiyu in the final of the WTA Guangzhou Open, Polish player Magda Linette said she had a positive week in China and views the defeat as a valuable lesson.

Wang defeated Linette 6-0, 6-2 on Saturday, clinching her first WTA Tour singles title.

Ranked 88th, Wang became the fifth singles champion from the Chinese mainland in Guangzhou, joining Wang Qiang (2018), Zhang Shuai (2017, 2013), Yan Zi (2005), and Li Na (2004). She's also the third Chinese player to win a WTA Tour singles title this season, following Zhu Lin and Zheng Qinwen.

Linette remains optimistic about her journey in tennis. "Tennis taught me that success is not only about winning. Moments like the Guangzhou Open final make me stronger, more determined and ready to work even harder. I'm not going to give up because I know that my dreams are within reach," she posted on her Instagram on Saturday.

"Many of us experience losses. They have different names, but how we react to them defines our strength. I'll let my loss become a motivation to act and strive for the goal. For me, it is another valuable lesson that I will turn into a positive, because I believe in myself and my abilities," the 31-year-old added. Enditem
