KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- DRB-Hicom, the parent company of Malaysian automaker Proton, inked a master collaboration agreement with Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd (Geely Holding) on Wednesday for the development of the Automotive High-Technology Valley (AHTV) project in Perak state.
Under the agreement, both parties agree to promote cooperation in new energy vehicles (NEVs), plan the construction of the auto components industrial park, and promote the development of the new automotive industry, DRB-Hicom said in a statement.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Eric Li, the chairman of Geely Holding, among other officials.
The AHTV will become an open center for future vehicle development and focus on the development of high-technology components and parts for NEVs. This will further expand the capability of local vendors to specialize in high-technology manufacturing, Geely said in a statement.
For his part, Daniel Li, CEO of Geely Holding, said: "I believe that Geely's global leadership in innovation, advanced modular vehicle architectures, smart electrified product development system, and global talent empowerment capabilities will add great vitality to the AHTV project." Enditem
