TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The foreign ministers of Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) exchanged views on the latest developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In a phone conversation on Wednesday night, Iran's Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and UAE's Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the necessity for supporting the Palestinians, according to a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
The Iranian top diplomat condemned the Israeli airstrikes against the people in Gaza and the intensification of the Palestinian enclave's siege, calling on the Muslim and Arab states to support the people of Palestine.
Amir-Abdollahian also warned against further complicating the situation, for which "Israel is responsible and will have to bear the consequences."
The UAE's foreign minister stressed the need to support the people in Gaza, calling on international organizations to help create safe passages to transfer the injured out of the Palestinian enclave.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Saturday launched a surprise attack on Israeli towns adjacent to the Gaza Strip, prompting Israel to launch retaliatory strikes on Gaza.
As of Thursday, more than 2,600 people have been killed and thousands more injured on both sides. Enditem
