KHOST, Afghanistan, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Construction of a road has begun in Khost city, the provincial capital of east Afghanistan's Khost province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Wednesday.
At a cost of 20 million afghanis (about 273,000 U.S. dollars), the municipal authorities would fund the essential project, the media outlet added.
The Afghan caretaker government, by launching small and medium development projects in different provinces, plans to create job opportunities for people.
The authorities have launched a variety of projects including roads, schools and healthcare facilities worth 10 million U.S. dollars in the northern Kunduz province over the past year, a provincial administration official Ali Khan said.
Provincial authorities in west Afghanistan's Herat province have also recently started asphalting roads in the provincial capital Herat city. Enditem
