LUANDA, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Road accidents claimed nearly 15,000 lives in Angola between January and October, Jornal de Angola, a local media outlet, reported Sunday, quoting Angola's Vice President Esperanca da Costa, as saying.
In a message on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, Esperanca da Costa stated that the government has observed with significant concern that the current year continues to follow a negative trajectory regarding road accidents.
"From January to October, 12,069 road accidents, 2,607 injuries, and 14,950 deaths were recorded nationwide, in a growing trend that should concern and prompt reflection for everyone," read the message.
The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005, falls on the third Sunday in November every year. Enditem
