MEXICO CITY -- Mexico's economy grew 3.3 percent in the third quarter of 2023 year on year, driven mainly by industrial and agricultural activity, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) said Friday.

The agricultural sector grew by 5.7 percent between July and September, while industrial activity expanded by 4.3 percent, according to the autonomous Inegi. (Mexico-Economy)

BEIRUT -- The government of Finland on Friday donated 3.7 million euros (about 4 million U.S. dollars) through the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) to support vulnerable children and youths in Lebanon.

The donation will support out-of-school marginalized children and their families by offering them education, child protection, adolescent and youth engagement, social assistance, and health and nutrition services, according to a statement from UNICEF. (Finland-Lebanon-Donation)

ROME -- Italy has become the first country in the world to ban the production, sale and import of cultivated meat -- a term derived from the way it is produced by the cultivation of animal cells rather than through the slaughter of animals.

CHICAGO -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural futures fell across the board on Friday, led by soybean.

The most active corn contract for March delivery fell 5.25 cents, or 1.08 percent, to settle at 4.825 U.S. dollars per bushel. March wheat lost 7.25 cents, or 1.24 percent, to settle at 5.7725 dollars per bushel. January soybean plunged 25.75 cents, or 1.9 percent, to settle at 13.3075 dollars per bushel.
