HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government announced on Tuesday that the chief executive has, in accordance with the District Councils Ordinance, appointed 179 persons as members of the seventh-term District Councils for a term of office of four years starting from Jan. 1, 2024.

To fully implement the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong" and bring the District Councils back on track to fulfill their mission to serve the community, the HKSAR government has improved governance at the district level and reformed the District Councils. (Hong Kong-Election)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim named several new ministers on Tuesday as part of a minor reshuffle of his cabinet.

TOKYO -- The approval rate for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's cabinet has fallen to 23 percent, the lowest since Kishida took office in October 2021, according to the latest NHK opinion poll.
