JAKARTA -- The Indonesian police have arrested nine people on suspicion of terrorist activities in the province of Central Java, the police said on Thursday.

Ahmad Ramadhan, spokesman of the National Police, told reporters that all suspects, who are allegedly members of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI), a homegrown extremist group linked to the Islamic State (IS) terror group, were arrested separately in regencies of Sukoharjo, Sragen, Klaten and Boyolali. TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Thursday ousted all four cabinet ministers of the ruling party's largest faction, as he seeks to control the damage following a political fundraising scandal, local media reported.

Kishida accepted the resignations of Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ichiro Miyashita and Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Junji Suzuki, all of whom are members of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)'s largest faction, namely Seiwaken, or the Seiwa policy study group previously led by late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Kyodo News reported. MANILA -- The Philippine central bank opted Thursday to keep the bank's target reverse repurchase at 6.50 percent and the interest rates on the overnight deposit and lending facilities at 6 percent and 7 percent, respectively.

HONG KONG -- The National Security Department (NSD) of the Hong Kong Police Force said on Thursday that the police have put five people on the wanted list, who have absconded overseas and are suspected of having committed offences under the national security law in Hong Kong.

The five wanted are Cheng Man-kit, Hui Wing-ting, Siu Joey, Fok Ka-chi and Choi Ming-da, who are alleged to have continued to commit offences under the national security law, including incitement to secession, incitement to subversion, and collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security. SEOUL -- Revenue in the South Korean construction industry revenue recorded a double-digit increase last year, statistical office data showed Thursday.

The building industry's revenue rose 12.4 percent over the year to 461 trillion won (355 billion U.S. dollars) in 2022, marking the fastest growth in 14 years, according to Statistics Korea. (S. Korea-Construction) Enditem
