KINSHASA -- At least 20 people were killed in a landslide caused by heavy rains Sunday in the province of South Kivu, located in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), local media reported Monday, citing local sources.
According to Promesse Mazambi, a local civil society coordinator, at least 20 deaths have been reported in the village of Kalingi, in the territory of Mwenga. The torrential rains also caused considerable property damage. (DRC-Landslide-Death Toll)

ABUJA -- Eleven people were killed Saturday when the two cars they were riding in collided head-on in northern Nigeria, police has said.

TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Monday rejected the U.S. accusation that an Iranian drone attacked a chemical tanker operating in the Indian Ocean.

BELGRADE -- In response to an attempted takeover by the Serbian opposition at the Belgrade City Assembly on Sunday, police detained 38 protesters, the country's police officials said on Monday, adding that eight policemen sustained injuries while defending the assembly.
