DAMASCUS -- Two Syrian military personnel were killed on Friday in an ambush carried out by the Islamic State (IS) group in the central province of Homs, according to the local Sham FM radio.

According to the report, the soldiers fell victim to an ambush orchestrated by the IS while conducting a routine patrol near the White Valley Dam in the eastern countryside of Homs. (Syria-IS-Ambush)

GAZA -- The Palestinian death toll from Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip rose to 22,600 since the onset of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the Gaza-based Health Ministry said on Friday.

The ministry said in a statement that the Israeli army, within the past 24 hours, launched 15 attacks on Gaza, resulting in 162 deaths and 296 injuries. (Israel-Gaza-Death Toll)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Majid Mir-Ahmadi said on Friday that both bomb attacks that rocked the area near the tomb of Qassem Soleimani in Kerman, southeastern Iran, were "suicide attacks."

Mir-Ahmadi told the official IRNA news agency that parts of the bombers' bodies had been found at the site of Wednesday's attack, which has killed at least 89 people and wounded more than 280. (Iran-Kerman Blasts-Suicide Attacks)

ISTANBUL -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that his country is ready to mediate and host peace talks to resolve the Ukraine-Russia crisis.
