KATHMANDU -- The People's Democratic Party (PDP) won the general elections in Bhutan, provisional results showed on Tuesday, taking 30 seats, while the Bhutan Tendrel Party (BTP) secured 17 seats, local media reported.
After winning the first round of voting in November 2023, the PDP and BTP contested Tuesday's vote across all 47 constituencies in the Himalayan kingdom. A party has to win at least 24 constituencies to form a government. (Bhutan-Election-PDP)

KABUL -- Three persons were killed and four others injured as a blast targeted a minibus in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Tuesday, Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.
"At around 3:50 p.m. local time today, a blast struck a minibus in Police District 16 of Kabul martyring three people and injuring four others," Zadran confirmed on his social media account. (Afghanistan-Blast)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's cabinet has approved a proposal to establish an embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan and to reopen missions in Cyprus, Iraq, and Frankfort, Germany, the government information department said on Tuesday.
The department, in its statement listing out the decisions taken by the cabinet, said it is desirable to establish a Sri Lankan embassy in Kazakhstan to further develop the existing diplomatic relations between the two countries. (Sri Lanka-Embassy)

TOKYO -- The death toll reached 202 in the central Japanese prefecture of Ishikawa as of Tuesday afternoon after a series of earthquakes of up to 7.6 magnitude struck the prefecture and its vicinity, local media reported.
A total of 102 people remained unaccounted for in the hardest-hit prefecture as of 2 p.m. local time, while at least 565 people suffered injuries due to the quakes, the public broadcaster NHK said. (Japan-Noto Earthquake) Enditem
