TEHRAN, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- A trainer aircraft with a two-person crew on board went missing Tuesday in northern Iran's Alborz province after taking off, the official IRNA news agency reported.
The plane, a Piper PA-28 Cherokee, took off at 12:45 p.m. local time (0915 GMT) in Savojbolagh County and stopped responding to the control tower after two hours, the IRNA quoted County Governor Mohammad-Reza Alborzi as saying.
He said search operations were underway to find the crew, and the Iranian Red Crescent Society staff were monitoring the region for the missing aircraft.
Mohammad Baqer Khalafi, the provincial Red Crescent Society's director general, said seven search teams and rescue dogs had been sent to find the two people on board the plane, which may have crashed, according to the report. Enditem
