VIENTIANE, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The 59th meeting of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) was held in Lao capital Vientiane on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025.

The meeting was chaired by Khom Douangchantha, director general of the Tourism Marketing Department under the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Lao People's Army News reported on Tuesday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Khom noted that ASEAN highly values the implementation of the tourism programs and activities under the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025, which have significantly contributed to the development and expansion of the tourism sector in ASEAN countries.

The 59th NTOs will discuss and update on the implementation of the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025, related tourism decisions of the 42nd and 43rd ASEAN Summits, and other issues associated with international partners, according to the report. Enditem
